The wax that honeybees produce is too papery and burns too quickly to be used for candles. Instead "beeswax" candles are usually made from a material produced by hornets, but "hornetswax" just didn't have the same ring to it.

I keep honeybees and render the wax which is used for candles and it works just fine. Do you actually research the info you receive?
printer88: My friend, I'm afraid have some startling news for you: you aren't keeping honeybees; you're keeping hornets. Don't feel bad, as this is an extremely common mistake for would-be beekeepers to make. Even some legitimate beekeepers find their charge supplanted by hornets (an aggressive competitor in the eternal battle for pollen) from time to time, and are forced to make do with what the hornets can provide.
Let me warn you, though, that I seriously recommend against eating the "honey".
